If a patient is on glucophage (or other oral diabetes medications) is there an issue with iodinated contrast agents? What is the current rule with oral diabetes drugs? (glucophage)

1. Use iodinated contrast as long as BUN/creatinine are WNL.
2. Discontinue medication for 48 hours after the contrast enhanced CT scan.
3. Ideally the recheck BUN/creatine and then restart medication.
